| Introduction |
|
The short introduction "WHAT TO LISTEN FOR IN BAROQUE MUSIC" included with this CD will whet your appetite for the emotional roller coasters of this music! In this intro, Nancy talks about the need for the baroque composer to arouse in the listener idealized emotional states, and how composers set about to accomplish this. Also, there are short and non-technical introductions to the harpsichord and the organ as instruments. You will hear operatic elements in J. S. Bach's Harpsichord Toccata in D, BWV 912, as only Metzger can play it or, on the organ, Metzger's improvisatory rendition of the seldom heard Prelude & Fugue in G Minor, BWV 535. |

This CD was recorded on instruments by the renowned Byron Will, harpsichord maker to the conservatories of Austria; and by the Bond Organ Builders, Inc, acclaimed builder of tracker action instruments in the Pacific Northwest. |
