Tips for All Keyboard Players
Seven Wonders of the World of Baroque Music

This article and those that will follow every two months or so, are revisions of the series of articles which Nancy Metzger wrote for Continuo magazine, beginning in 1995. Since that publication is now defunct, the series never saw complete publication. "The Seven Wonders of the World of Baroque Music" is a separate concept and does not appear as such in Harpsichord Technique: A Guide to Expressivity, 2nd Edition. However, the musical aspects of most of these "wonders" are not only detailed in the book, but are expanded upon. These topics include Harmony, Strong vs. Weak, Rhythm & Pulse, Affect, and Articulation. Part Two, "Rhetoric at the Keyboard," of Harpsichord Technique is a guide to these musical essentials. If you want to know more, this book is the place to look.
