Nancy Metzger Recitalist Nancy Metzger, harpsichordist and organist, has had a long and varied career as a performer, professor, and church musician. She has performed as a soloist in such disparate cities as Cape Town, Oxford, Williamsburg and Hong Kong. Widely known as an authority on Baroque performance and the author of Harpsichord Technique: A Guide to Expressivity, she is equally at home with the literature of the Romantic era. Ms. Metzger's principal harpsichord studies were in Berkeley CA with Laurette Goldberg and her organ studies were at Syracuse University with David N. Johnson and Arthur Poister, at the University of Oregon with John Hamilton, in San Francisco with Richard Purvis and at the North German Orgen Academy with Harald Vogel. She holds a master's degree in music history and was for several years a professor of music in Portland, Oregon, where she taught music history, church music and art appreciation as well as organ and harpsichord.
