Grading
United States coins: We use the grading standards of the American Numismatic Association as well as "Photograde" by James F. Ruddy.
Canadian coins: Are graded by the "Standard Grading Guide to Canadian Decimal Coins" by James E. Charlton and Robert C. Willey.
Mexican coins: Are graded to the standards spelled out by Richard A. Long in his book "The Availability of 20th Century Mexican Coins" 1976. One of the best written articles on grading that I have ever read! Special note: During some periods of Mexico's history (examples: The War for Independence 1810-1821 and the Revolutionary period 1910-1917) coinage was often produced under primitive and "makeshift" circumstances. Grading of these pieces is, by necessity, based on description, knowledge of the series and generally accepted grading practices of those who collect these pieces. Satisfaction is guaranteed.
Currency: All currency is graded to standards generally accepted in the hobby. Again, satisfaction is guaranteed.
General comments: Grading of coins is a controversial subject. Often even the "professional" grading services don't agree with each other or even with themselves when the same coin is resubmitted to them. While we grade conservatively and to industry standards we recognize that, to a greater or lesser extent, there is, and will continue to be, an element of subjectivity. Ultimately the buyer is the one who decides if a coin "makes the grade". Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
